April!!! -A TMNT FAnFic-

That day started out like any other. Training or fooling around, not in any particular order. Thus was the typical living style of any average family of young mutant ninjas. It was around noon that April showed up but after twelve minutes talking to Donnie, as she usually would, she went off, sat herself down on the sofa and buried herself into her "Homework", surrounded by textbooks, papers and her laptop sitting on her lap. Donnie continuously snuck her glances from working on his latest mechanical feat, enamored and charmed with the occasional giggles she would hardly let loose. This changed all at once when she spontaneously burst out laughing so hard she and the laptop she'd been staring at, almost crashed to the ground. She quickly yet roughly recomposed herself as she was now staring at four VERY amused turtles,expecting answers. As usual, the ever social, ever outspoken, Micheal Angelo was the first to truly break the ice.


"What's so funny, April? I thought you said "Homework" was a drag..."


April looked up at the four of them slowly, her crystal blue eyes landing on each of them individually  across their tight and curious line. After about a few seconds of staring in silence, her resolve broke. Her cheeks swelled with air and bloomed a slight pink. All at once the laughter started up full force once again, commencing with a hardly restrained "PFFFFFTTTT--" then continuing on into hardy laughter; at this point rolling on the floor, profoundly worrying, confusing and in one specific red masked individual, severely annoying and pissing him off.


"Cut the nonsensical laughter April! What the shell is so funny!?" Raphael erupted at her laughter.


She managed to calm down once again and look at them betwixt a few stray chuckles and giggles, wiping a tear from her eye. "You're angry at me now, you won't like what I'm laughing at!"

"Don't leave us hangin'! If it involves us, we have the right to know!!" He retorted grouchily. Donnie took hold of Raph's shoulder to ease him up a bit, then leaned forward to April.


"We won't get mad if you tell us. We promise"


April sighed a bit and carefully took hold of her shut, discarded laptop, imploring them to sit around her with an eager hand gesture. "I'll SHOW you"


They all complied and looked at her questioningly. She looked at their faces with a small grin and held up her finger as her other hand opened the laptop. "Alright, keep an open mind though! You did PROMISE! And you also ASKED!" With that, she turned back to the screen and plopped her raised finger down on the clicker, a video she had open on the screen beginning its replay, the title of which covered by the scroll.


The video commenced with a small turtle, making all of present company within the species feel strangely nervous. The turtle trudged it's way across the room to a discarded boot and began to climb it. The teens looked over at their red headed friend in confusion and she simply motioned for them to continue  watching. After about halfway up the shoe, the turtle stopped. In fact; froze altogether. For a moment there was nothing, it simply remained on the shoe, expressionless. Then it's mouth slowly gapped, more and more until it was hanging wide open, a strange squeaking, moaning kind of sound exited the creature and...to put it lightly...it no longer stood still. With every minute to pass by, the turtle became more and more 'excited' and loud. Eventually screeching out a final, very dramatic sound and falling back onto it's...back...; wriggling and squirming to stand once again. The screen then faded to black and the phrase "EPIC FAIL" showed up in big red letters, a comical "Wah, Wah, WAHHHHH" music playing in the back, then finished.


For another moment there was pure silence. Silence that could only be spawn of highly trained ninjas as well as the lingering petrified atmosphere of teens desperately wishing to fade away into the air and go completely invisible. Under normal circumstances, such a thing could definitely be possible, but alas...Mikey had demolished their ninja bomb supply hours ago and now even HE could see the error in misusing such sacred tools. April's curiosity finally got the best of her two minutes into the never-ending silence. She turned to look over her shoulder slowly and to her surprise, there sat four fire-engine red ninjas...Raphael's mask almost completely blended in perfectly which is also what worried her. Right after, April released another "PFFFFTTTT" and curled up laughing as the humiliated turtles turned in shame.


"Stop laughing!" Raphael finally snapped at her, though mostly in vain as the young girl was now pounding her fist into the ground in hilarity. "Cut it out already, it's not even funny!"


"Yes!!" she corrected breathlessly "It totally is!!!" Then back she went into her laughing frenzy, this time on her back, waving her legs in the air and clutching her gut with her tightly wound arms. The turtles all bowed their heads flustered and played with their fingers awkwardly. Raph on the other hand, stood and stomped away, taking a nonchalantly eating Spike with him.


"April c'mon....it's embarrassing...you con't possibly find it THAT hilarious can you?" Donnie asked in more of a whine. Leo and Mikey both nodding for lack of words to aid the situation.


"Of course it's not that funny" April said, regaining herself a bit "Actually the video is pretty lame if you ask me"


"Then why are you laughing so hard??" The three exclaimed of her.

April smiled and shut her laptop "The first time I saw it, I though it was cute I guess, but it didn't really make me more than giggle"


Donnie lowered his head almost face-planting the floor in even more shame "Cute....???"


"What makes it so funny," she continued "is that I know you guys, which makes sooooooo many weird scenarios play out in my head! Like, if you hadn't turned to mutants, you guys would probably be doing that, ya know? Also I predicted your reactions to watching this and I was spot on! Watching it over to see me be correct was only twice as funny!!" She giggled slightly.


The three turtles blushed heavily at her words. What was worse? That what she said was probably true or that they were just that predictable? Or maybe that she was actually developing scenarios about them in this situation? They honestly couldn't decide. April sighed and took up her belongings and packed them away into her bag. "Well, I'd better be going"


Usually Donnie would offer to walk her, but right now, being alone with her would stress him out WAY TOO MUCH than worth the trouble, and considering how much he liked her...that was seriously saying something. Instead, he nodded slightly and waved as she walked towards the exit. "Thank goodness I watched that, now I know better than to leave my shoes lying around here carelessly"



"April!!" The three and even Raph in the back room cried together in unison, making her laugh even more as she walked out of sight. The three brothers sunk into the couch emotionally defeated.



"I can't believe that we would...I mean...why shoes...I don't understand the appeal!" Donnie pondered in painful confusion, plastering his hands onto his face stressfully.



"Think about it this way Donnie, do you really wanna know?" Leo asked with a half smile of compassion on his face, his hand patting his purple masked brother on the shoulder reassuringly.



"I dunno guys, I wouldn't say I don't TOTALLY get it....I mean some shoes are so cool and I have caught myself thinking that sometimes when I see people wearing them, I want some too....and they come in so many shapes and colors and WHAT ON EARTH AM I SAYING????" Mikey screamed and crushed his head beneath a nearby pillow. The three shook it away and began to converse about what goes best on pizza, establishing a safer environment for their tortured minds and ever inviting Raph over into the discussion. Just as all normality came back, April poked her head out of the archway entrance of their lair and smiled as she asked,


"So do you think you guys will still make those funny squeaking sounds when you all finally get to have s--"


"APRIL!!!"
